Along a winding village lane, more than twenty timber buildings brought from across Uppland form a museum landscape imagined as a rural village before the great land reforms. Disagården opened in 1931; its farms, work buildings, gardens and soldier’s croft reveal both nineteenth-century rural life and the choices through which a museum reconstructs it.
Guide
Disagården sits beside the church and royal landscape of Gamla Uppsala, but it tells a different story. Here, a winding village lane joins timber houses, barns, storehouses, a smithy, a windmill, gardens and a soldier’s croft. The buildings were brought from settlements across Uppland. Together they invite you to imagine a rural village before nineteenth-century land reforms scattered many farmsteads.
