Dauderi is a historic villa and museum in Riga’s Sarkandaugava neighbourhood. Its changing uses—from brewery owner’s home to state residence, kindergarten and museum—frame a collection of Latvian cultural heritage assembled partly in exile.
Guide preview
A villa, a kindergarten and a museum have all occupied the same house in Riga’s Sarkandaugava neighbourhood. Dauderi’s rooms and landscaped grounds offer a way to follow Latvia’s twentieth-century changes without leaving one address. The building began as the family home of a brewery owner; its later uses were shaped by authoritarian rule, occupation, Soviet institutions and a collection assembled in exile.
