A cluster of onion domes and a tall bell tower mark the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church on Riga’s left bank. Consecrated in 1895, it continues a much older local worship tradition and contains an intricately carved iconostasis.
Guide preview
Across the Daugava from Old Riga, the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church rises on Meža iela with a tall bell tower and a cluster of onion domes. The arrangement gives the eye several heights to follow: a pyramidal roof lifts the tower above the domes around the church itself. This is a working parish church as well as an architectural landmark of Pārdaugava, the part of Riga on the river’s left bank.
