Guide preview

Vērmanes Garden is a green meeting place in central Riga, but its origin lies in a devastating fire. After the suburbs were burned in 1812, residents and officials planned new public greenery on the cleared ground. The garden that opened in 1817 bears the name of one of its most generous supporters, Anna Ģertrūde Vērmane.
