Jingfu Gate, commonly called Taipei’s East Gate, is one of the surviving gates of the Qing-era Taipei city wall. Its position at a busy central intersection recalls the walled city’s original layout and later urban transformations.

The city was completed in 1884, and its gates marked the points where people entered and left the administrative center. Most of the walls were later removed as the city modernized, but several gates survived.
