Xinbeitou Historic Station

Taipei, Taiwan

Xinbeitou Historic Station is a restored wooden railway station in Beitou, built to serve the district’s hot-spring visitors. Its return to Taipei after decades away reflects a local preservation campaign and keeps the history of the branch railway visible.

Guide

The station’s rounded roof windows and carved wooden brackets are clues to its original railway-era design. Xinbeitou Platform opened in 1916 as a branch line terminus serving the hot-spring district, and the station helped shape the area’s identity as a place to visit and stay.
